Best philanthropic initiative

This award recognises an exceptional philanthropic initiative that has demonstrated outstanding impact, innovation, and industry engagement. We seek to honour initiatives that have successfully raised funds, increased awareness, and inspired action for a cause.

Entries will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

• Motivation: The reason why the initiative was started.

• Impact: The extent to which the event generated significant funds or in-kind donations for the benefiting cause.

• Innovation: The creativity and originality of the initiative concept and execution.

• Community Engagement: The level of participation and involvement from the community and stakeholders.

• Measurable Outcomes: The ability to demonstrate the initiative’s impact through quantifiable results.

To strengthen your entry, please provide detailed information about the initiative, including its goals, target audience, budget, and outcomes.

Building momentum

This award recognises companies who have noticeably accelerated their progress to be more inclusive over the previous year, whether from a standing start or by gathering momentum around a specific issue or dimension of diversity.

To be considered for this award, firms must show the ‘before’ and ‘after’, describe the motivation behind and details of the initiatives they have put in place and explain their planned next steps to build on the positive momentum.

The judges will be looking at the rate of change, rather than at the level – so this award is suitable for firms who are early in their journey, those who have been wrestling with a specific issue but now seeing progress or those at the ‘masterclass’ stage who have witnessed an encouraging breakthrough after years of little change.

To strengthen your entry please include feedback or endorsements (internal or external sources)

Financial inclusion

This award recognises firms or individuals who are helping to improve financial inclusion in the UK. The Government defines financial inclusion as individuals, regardless of their background or income, having access to useful and affordable financial products and services. Examples of areas of inclusion include financial education and numeracy, technology, commercial incentives and diversity and inclusion.

The judges will be interested in either specific campaigns or ongoing ways of doing business that are designed to broaden access to financial services and which are original and creative.

Applicants should demonstrate:

• The motivation behind the efforts

• The specific aspects of the campaign or approach

• The targets – and progress against them

• Plans for future evolution of the work

Governance best practice

This award celebrates organisations that set the standard in good governance, strong management and operational transparency

Entries should demonstrate the strength of their governance in their submissions, both through formal organisational structures and examples of how they achieve good governance in practice. For instance, mechanisms used to avoid groupthink, to reflect challenges made in board and other meetings, and how the different elements of the governance structure fit together to be cohesive.

Organisations can select their own ways of demonstrating the effectiveness of their arrangements e.g. specific recruitment practices, training exercises, board effectiveness reviews, analysis of decision-making, approaches to performance reviews, transparency with investors etc and may wish to share examples (redacted as needed) where these were tested in practice.

The judges will be looking for evidence of an approach that goes beyond box-ticking.

Behaviour change campaign of the year

This award recognises any organisation – within the investment and savings industry – that has developed an external campaign to successfully push environmental or social issues into the spotlight within financial services.

We seek to recognise firms or campaign groups who have seen significant engagement with important issues which have otherwise been left unaddressed or underrepresented.

Candidates must demonstrate evidence of:

• A clear ‘call to action’ and targeted outcome, as well as plans for future growth and awareness raising

• Strong and varied initiatives to garner as much traction as possible

• An issue which has demonstrably seen an uplift in discussion, debate and initiatives either across the financial services industry, or within their own organisation

To strengthen your nomination, please provide testimonials from others.

Paying it forward

This award is designed to honour teams that actively engage with their surrounding community or communities as part of their outreach efforts.

Judges will be assessing submissions for evidence of at least one of the following:

• Illustrations of how a team has made a positive difference in the local community or for individuals within it

• Programs aimed at enhancing opportunities or education for under-represented people

• Initiatives that provide access to industry expertise through staff volunteering

• Demonstrations of how this initiative serves as a force for good, elevating the industry’s reputation

To strengthen your entry you must include feedback from staff and the people in the community you have worked with, including testimonials, and demonstrable results of how the initiative has positively impacted them.
